Philippians 4:6-7

The peace that passes (transcends) all understanding. The amplified version speaks of a place of tranquillity in reference to this portion of scripture. I just love the way it puts it.

 Philippians 4:6-7 (Amplified Bible)

6Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition ([a]definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

7And God's peace [shall be yours, that [b]tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall [c]garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

A position of tranquillity is a place of peacefulness where there is no cares of life whatsoever.

I can’t help myself imagining a place of tranquillity as a quite island with a beautiful lodge, the ones you can only dream of, with those pure white sandy beaches with black rocks and green plants giving colour to the backdrop of the turquoise blue sea water as seen on postcards and infomercials. Imagine yourself lying on the stoop of this lodge under a pure white umbrella on a beach chair with an Island exotic fruit juice by your side in the coolness of the morning sun just embracing your surroundings with no worries about time date and any work related matters. You are enjoying the perfect fusion between the creation of God and the construction of men. Getting lost in thoughts and travelling beyond dimension of impossibility defying all the laws of life and gravity, just you and God being free where the creator and the creation becomes one. This is the peace that transcends all understanding.

It’s this kind of peace that made Jesus sleep in the middle of a life threatening storm and get up and say to the wind “Peace” and to the seas “be Still” You don’t have to physically travel to this Island but you can have this kind of peace that passes all understanding. This peace is found in Christ alone.

Dear reader, my prayer for you today is that the peace of God that transcends all understanding will be your portion today.

May there be peace in your family, marriage, workplace, finances and everything that concern you.

Have a blessed day

Pastor Hugo
